“We will continue to offer the 6500 series.  For the avid videophile, you just can’t beat it.  The power it offers for high-definition video and networking is astounding,” says Christopher Leonard, TVIX Box’s founder and CEO, “but with our new line, the focus is going to be different.”

According to Paul Valente, TVIX Box’s online sales chief, “Nowadays, more than ever, people want value.  They want something simple, that does what its supposed to with little hassle.  To meet this challenge we have gone back to the basics: a quality, affordable player, that is easy to use and handles a wide range of files, for under $125.”

According to Valente, the new value-line, available in mid June, 2008, will be compact and have only a limited set of connectors.  At least one model will be diskless, and will play media files from a USB flash drive or other USB storage device.  “The aim is simplicity and affordability,” says Valente, “This type of box is something anyone who can download a file can use.  There is no need to learn about networking or file structure.  Simply copy the file to the flash drive, walk it to the living room, plug and go.  Customers think this is the simplest way to get downloads to the TV, and we think so too.”

The TVIX Box M-6500A High-Definition Digital Network Multimedia Player, released earlier this year, has taken the company to new heights.  Although setback by a small number of defective units released to other vendors by its Korean partner DVICO, TVIX Box reports that sales of the new model have been strong.

“There have been a lot of rumors and misinformation spread on the net about multiple versions, and temporary service centers being setup to deal with defective units,” says CEO Christopher Leonard, “fact is, none of it is true.  There has only been one version of the product and there are no temporary service centers.  The reality is that there were only a small number of units from the first batch manufactured by DVICO that were affected and they responded immediately to rectify that.  As for the units TVIX Box sells?  Well, TVIX Box has never even seen a box with these issues, and we sell more units in the US than anybody.”

Leonard anticipates the 6500 will remain TVIX Box’s flagship product through 2008.  “The 6500 brings a number of new features to the table, and powerful ones too.  It won’t be surpassed for a while,” he continues, ”It supports HDMI 1.3, SATA drives, and has more memory and a fatter processor which equates to better network performance and smoother, more reliable HD playback.  Also with the 6500 you can copy files to and from it over SMB rather than only FTP.  That is a big change.”

According to Valente, adding the SMB server to the 6500 was part of an ongoing effort to make the TVIX Box more versatile.  “For users into networking this option offers another level of convenience.  When you are at your PC, you can simply drag and drop files to the TVIX Box over the network, without a lot of special settings or setup.  You can even do this wirelessly,” he continues, “With that and the USB host ports, you really don’t need anything else.”

San Francisco, CA (TVIX Box News), October 1, 2007 - After several months of R&D testing and firmware updates, the TVIX Box team have finally got it right. Billed as the next big jump in hard disk drive (HDD) media player technology, the T410 DVR/PVR from TVIX Box allows owners of the TVIX Box HD 4000PA or 4100SH digital multimedia player to decode High-definition and Standard-definition ATSC terrestrial broadcast channels for real-time TV viewing and recording. To boot, the T410 records HD and SD programs to a format easily portable to computers, laptops and other data devices.

Using manual recording, EPG (Electronic Program Guide) recording, or scheduled recording, the T410 records directly to the TVIX Box’s internal hard disk drive, saving the program as a .tp file. The .tp file can then be copied or moved via USB or the network to any device for portability or playback. Alternately, viewers can just leave the file on the TVIX Box for later viewing.

The T410 supports resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080i (currently the highest HD standard). At that resolution, the T410 can record about 120 hours of video onto a 1 TByte hard disk drive. At SD resolutions, the T410 records a whopping 500 hours. With larger HDD’s and external storage, recording time becomes practically limitless.

In addition the camcorder made it more convenient than ever for average people to make their own movies; hence the genre “Amateur.”

But it was not until the late 1990’s with the emergence of high speed Internet that adult entertainment finally became easily available, shareable, makeable, distributable and to the frustration of some publishers, redistributable.
